Purpose
Our purpose is to contribute to manifesting a shift in consciousness to a compassionate world.

Vision
Our vision of San Diego NVC is one of a rotary, where information, energy and persons flow freely in and out of the organization. Inside the organization are resources designed to support anyone wanting to use NVC to facilitate community building, systems change, personal growth and/or education. These resources help those who resonate with our purpose be a resource to their communities through providing empathy, raising awareness about NVC, and supporting people in their NVC learning.

Leadership
San Diego NVC leadership is a rotating, shared and flexible body that cultivates and supports NVC consciousness internally, in relation to the San Diego NVC organization, and the larger community. Members of leadership include those who feel most called to step forward. We sense that this method of self-selection is an effective way to be continuously connected to the living energy of needs of each individual and the community. When exercising leadership, members extend invitations throughout the organization. The qualities of leadership we most resonate with include aliveness, passion, compassion, wisdom, capability and the ability to be present, aware and forward-looking.

Some possible activities of leadership circle have been mentioned, but not agreed upon. These include:
• Peer mentoring
• Decision making
• Holding living energy for the community
• Governance/ action hub
• Finding synergies between various action groups
• Planning meetings
• Expressing what is San Diego NVC
• Community

Management
San Diego NVC as a living entity is a hub for those passionate about sharing and teaching NVC and seek to do so in collaboration with others.
San Diego NVC is made up of an Empathy circle- peer mentoring for San Diego NVC leaders, receiving and giving empathy- whenever anyone feels called to extend an invitation to convene a circle.
Partnership circle- are face-to-face (or virtual-- held over email) gatherings held whenever anyone is called to extend an open invitation to collaborate on a project or initiative connected with NVC and would like to make use of the community's shared resources to do so. This circle may be called by anyone in the current core group. The circle may also be called for the purpose of further developing the hub.

San Diego NVC aims to use decision-making approaches that embrace both efficiency, personal and group healing, leadership development, build community, that can be used online and offline.. The Five to Fold is one possible strategy to be used in making decisions.
San Diego NVC uses the BayNVC grid to facilitate and track self-organizing of leadership and management of initiatives.
Current (or near-term) elements of the San Diego NVC infrastructure include an San Diego NVC bank account, well-developed website and calendar of local San Diego NVC events.
The givens (or non-negotiables) of the San Diego NVC hub are to be clarified at a later time.

Community

How does the organization work with others in the community?

San Diego NVC, in supporting a global change of consciousness, works with other organizations. San Diego NVC is open to dialogue with organizations that share this purpose and are willing to explore what form a partnership or alliance may take. With a desire for efficiency, effectiveness, and resource conservation, decisions on whether to enter into partnerships and alliances are made by the core group.

San Diego NVC desires to be a fluid organization (i.e., that those involved come in and go out as their needs shift). Part of this fluidity is an ongoing invitation to others (groups and individuals) to be part of the discussion about how best to accomplish our purpose.

In what ways does the San Diego NVC body have the nutrient environment that enables good communication, high morale, and the purpose to be filled?

We’re 100% organic. We are composed of people that are unique expressions of life energy each with different skills, preferences, and gifts. One of the strengths of our core group is a willingness to be present to what’s happening inside us as individuals, and to what’s happening with others. There is an acknowledgement that all beings are one and that this oneness is manifest in the needs/values/desires that motivate all behavior. This consciousness allows for an environment of openness, transparency, empathy, and safety.

Our morale comes partly from our deep desire for peace and trust that applying the tools and consciousness promoted by Compassionate Communication are one way to live this desire. Our collective vision motivates us and fuels our ongoing journey of peace-making. Each of us has made a personal commitment to living compassionately, returning to compassionate living when we miss the mark, and promoting compassion in the world.

We value the perspective that our awareness of the living energy of our needs guides our behavior. In living this perspective, we seek to check-in with ourselves often to clarify if our behavior honors those needs. When needs are unmet, it is our hope that we will seek out strategies that foster connection and openness both within our group and with other organizations.

Who will be interested in the results of our work?

We hope those who share our purpose will be innervated by the results of our work; that those who want to build a compassionate world will be attracted to our organization. We in the core group invite ourselves to focus the energy drawn to us in ways that change the world. We intend to work in partnership with those who have interest in our purpose.
